Cyclone Nargis struck Myanmar on 2 May 2008, leaving at least 80,000 dead and 41,000 people missing. Singapore sent its first batch of relief supplies - part of the US$200,000 (S$272,000) humanitarian aid package announced by the Singapore government - to Myanmar on 7 May.
